    ARTIFACT:
    This is a No. 4 Portsmouth Fire Department 17th annual parade ribbon from September 10, 1903. The geranium-colored ribbon has a bar at top reading CAPTAIN and a medallion with an eagle at top showing the Fire Captain’s photograph.
    VINTAGE:
    Circa 1903.
    SIZE:
    7-5/16” in height and 2-7/8” in width.
    CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS:
    Gold-painted aluminum, celluloid, photograph, printed paper, silk ribbon.
    ATTACHMENT:
    Horizontal safety-style pin.
