Burton L. Rhue Wareham Burton "Burt" L. Rhue, 85, of Wareham, died after a lengthy illness on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at his home, while surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Anne E. (Martin) Rhue and a son of the late Arthur and Mary (Swinimer) Rhue. He grew up in Brockton and resided in Whitman for 25 years before moving to Wareham in 1983. A veteran of World War II, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and participated in its combat campaign from Normandy France to Germany. Mr. Rhue owned and operated trucking, construction and snow plowing businesses on the South Shore, including Rhue's Express, Glennon's Express and Rhue's Truck Rental. In addition to trucking, he was the proprietor of Green Acre Farms, Burt's Place and Capeway Gardens, selling fresh fruit, produce, Christmas trees and seasonal horticulture. Burt's many interests included gardening, lobstering, scalloping and wintering in Florida, but mostly, he enjoyed time with his family and friends.
