Description
Thecommemorative medal on the occasion of the Weißwasser forest fire disaster in May / June 1992
is a fire service award of the
Free State of Saxony
and was donated in July 1992. The medal itself is no longer issued - its award has been discontinued.
Commemorative medal
A commemorative medal was donated to commemorate the aid given to the
forest fire disaster in May and June 1992 in the Weißwasser district
. It shows a symbol on the face that reminds of the forest fire disaster.
The medal has a diameter of 30 mm and is bronzed. The state coat of arms of the Free State of Saxony is embossed in the middle on its front. The inscription, which was embossed on the medal
edge
by approx. 4 mm, reads in capital letters
FOREST FIRE DISASTER WHITE WATER 1992
. On its back, four tree trunks are embossed, three of which are fully visible. These are surrounded by stylized flames. The ribbon and the ribbon buckle are white green white.
Award
The commemorative medal could be awarded to everyone who provided assistance in fighting the fire. It was also given to helpers who lost their lives through their service.
The commemorative medal was awarded by the Minister of State of the Interior. The entrusted received a title deed. The commemorative medal becomes the property of the recipient. The medal is worn on the medal buckle on the left side of the chest. However, in original size only on the day of its award or on appropriate festive occasions, otherwise only as a strap buckle.
