RARE Vintage 1940s Lot of 44+ NEWSPAPER INSERTS Canned Food MONARCH Coffee Etc Local Supermarket Ed Kuemmerle Market Danville IL ............monarchPlease read DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION BELOW AND SEE ALL PHOTOS BEFORE PURCHASE. Approx. 17" x 11" . Large lot of over 40 identical newspaper (?) advertisements. Unsure of the purpose of these, may have been inserts for the local newspaper. Possibly from the 1940's, no later than the early 1950s. I don't know if they were printed on a greenish tint newsprint, or if they changed to green over the years .? Edges are discolored with age darkening and the paper is brittle, especially near the edges and on the pages on the top and the edges that were exposed to sun/drying and the environment. I believe these were for the Ed Kuemmerle Market, 427 E. Main St., in Danville, Illinois. No city given, but this market was located at that address in the 40s. Great prices on canned goods and Monarch brand foods from back in the day. Huge lot of over 40 pages, all identical, great for nostalgia or crafts.
CONDITION:
Large lot of authentic newspaper inserts for vanned food/grocery advertising. Heavy age darkening, the newsprint paper is brittle, cracking and splitting along some of the edges. Very brittle texture. The edges are split in numerous places, and the edges have age darkening. Maybe a greenish newsprint originally? Or age changes turned them greenish? Many of the pages that were not on the top or were not exposed are in good condition. They are all IDENTICAL. These fragile sheets must be handled carefully. Edges of the pages have suffered and the edges don't lay flat. Probably cheaply printed for insertion into the local newspaper. Good condition.
