    Description

Offered here is a rare and attractive vintage early 20th century Epworth League convention badge for the International Convention held in San Francisco from July 18-21, 1901.  The pinback features a beautiful diecast cross dangle with spectacular graphics of California, including the golden bear mascot, Yosemite Falls, the Redwood Forest, and downtown SF.  A silk ribbon features crossed flags of the United States and British flag.  The entire ensemble measures about 4.5" long.  Overall, this is a spectacular piece for collectors of Methodism and fraternal orders. Check out my other trade association items, historical pieces, and political buttons on Ebay.  I gladly combine shipping.
Initially founded in 1889, the Epworth League was a Methodist young adult association for individuals from 18 to 35.  At its conception, the purpose of the League was the promotion of intelligent and vital
    piety
among the young people of the Church:  To encourage and cultivate
    Christ
-centered character in young adults around the world through community building, missions, and spiritual growth.  The League takes its name from the village of Epworth in England, the birthplace of John Wesley and Charles Epworth. Its members are known as Epworthians
